Sleeping Beauty: Chorus Auditions

Sign Me up!

We're pleased to announce our January 2020 pantomime, Sleeping Beauty!

We are looking for some talented youngsters to round out our cast by joining as part of our chorus. Here is what you need to know:

  • To be able to audition, you must have signed up and completed your audition form.

  • You must be aged 8 - 18 years old at time of audition.

  • We welcome auditions from both boys and girls.

  • You must be available from 5th - 11th January 2020.

  • Weekly rehearsals will be on a Tuesday evening from 7pm - 9pm.

  • You'll need to provide your own dance shoes.

Sounds good to me, when are auditions?

  • Tuesday 6th August

  • Henknowle Community Centre, Cumbria Pl. DL14 6TJ

  • Registration: 1:00pm

  • Audition: 1:30pm - 3:30pm

What are we looking for? Throughout the audition we'll be looking for...

  • Those who demonstrate a strong ability to follow the choreography.

  • People who can sing, or can at least hold a tune - singing isn't a requirement but it's desirable.

  • People who show a good standard of behaviour.

  • And most importantly, people who are enjoying themselves!

Do I need experience or formal training?

  • No. Don't worry, you don't need to have been attending dance school since you were 3 to be in with a chance of being cast.

  • If you come to the audition and show us that you can follow the choreography to the standard we set, we will be just as happy to cast you as someone who has been trained.

What should I bring?

  • Plenty of water.

  • Comfortable clothing appropriate to dance in.

  • A smile.

What does my responsible adult need to know?

  • They must be over 18.

  • They need to completed and sign the form you'll get by email when you sign up.

  • We would like to make it clear that, as a requirement, your adults will need to be willing to help out with supervision during rehearsals and during production week. Don't worry, we are happy to create a rota for them so that they don't have to be there every week.

  • Rehearsals will most likely be held in Byers Green Club.

Anything else?

  • If you're a theatre kid you'll be used to it, but if you're not then please be aware that production week will be exhausting. You will be expected to have a full day of school/college and then be in the theatre every evening until 9:30pm/10:00pm. Please be honest with yourself and make sure that you are prepared for this.

  • If you'd like any more information, please get in touch.

Great, how do I sign up?
